To Craft or Not to Craft...

I am moving. The lease was signed yesterday and while the details need to be worked out I will be leaving Davis by the end of this month. This morning I was hit with a conundrum, do I pack my crafts (mainly yarn and knitting tools) now, or do I keep them out so I can start a new project?

I just happen to be without anything on my needles right now, so it would be less distracting. But several of my friends are expecting babies in the Fall and Winter.

I know the babies are just an excuse, especially because knitting MOST baby items only takes a day or two. The major exception being my "Love-Family-Growth" baby blanket, which is my all time favorite improvised project.

This sucker took me about a month and lots of stopping to consult with pattern dictionaries. But I was hit with an idea and I knew the recipients would appreciate the effort.

I'm most likely going to make smaller stuff for my friends' this round. Maybe more of a hat-mitten set...

Or maybe a sweater for each...

Superwash Cashmere-Merino Wool Mix - can't remember the brand and didn't write it down.

Or maybe I'll try something altogether different and make a stuffed animal.

Whatever I decide, I suppose I should go through my yarn, and just pack up the stuff that I KNOW I won't use on a baby item. You know, the cashmere, qiviut, and silk. The stuff I splurged on while on vacation - zonked out of my mind from too much sun and happiness - or to mark a happy occasion like when Partner and I got engaged.

Maybe that stuff I can pet and caress tonight I as lay them in a box to move to their new home.
