Knitted Rose

As I wrote in my last post I am in the journey to design and make the perfect rose for my upcoming nuptials, in a little over a year. I suppose more than anything this is an excuse to try something new with two sticks and string.

In the last post I wrote why I was making my own rose instead of using other designs. But I was disappointed with my first try.

Last night, I realized my assembly of the rose wasn't that fixed and I could easily pull it apart. I had intended to block and reassembly it, but in the spur of the moment decided instead to lightly felt it. Here is the result.

I'm pretty happy with the way this one turned out even if it doesn't stand on end. But I'm still playing with the pattern to get it come out better. So you'll probably seen another post about this in the near future....perhaps along with a pattern.
