Humping Elephants - Done

They are FINALLY done! As much as I enjoyed learning the new technique (double knitting) and this pattern I'm sick of working on this gift. I've got a sampler shawl made from the new KnitPicks Chroma hibernating and I would really like to get back it it since it was turning out really nice. But that will go into another post.

Back to this project. The elephants looked pretty good unfelted, but I don't want any burned hands from the items pushing through the "holes" of the stitches so I went ahead and felted. Here are the before pictures.

Post felting they still looked good to me. But I wish the potholders were more square. And I'm a little disappointed with how square the male is. But they look good enough.

After:

I ran out of yarn at the very end, but had just enough to do one row of blocks. I had bought more yarn at JoAnn's just in case. But I like the way these turned out, so the other yarn may just get turned into an oven mitt for me or for the in-case-of-emergency gift box.

I always feel a little guilty felting because of the hot water, single load for so few items. So I made the most of this and felted my sister's French Press Slippers too. Apparently I didn't take any post-construction-pre-felting pictures though, so I'll just post an image when I'm done constructing them. They need to dry first.

okay, off to make a presentation for my working group tomorrow. I still need to finish my degree...sooner would be better than later.
